Where the team is right and where they are wrong:

What Mako, Korra, and Bolin did right in episode 5 and what they did wrong, hopefully clearly, concisely, and lacking in shipper feels:

Mako, what he did right:

• turn Korra down when she confessed her feelings (he has a girlfriend)
• when everything blows up, honestly explain to her it’s complex and complicated
• tell Bolin not to date Korra (i’d bet dating within the team was one of his considerations when he considered dating her; the other being that Bolin clearly liked her)
• call Korra out for going out with Bolin

Korra,what she did right:

• be honest with Mako about her feelings for him

Bolin,what he did right:

• ask out the girl he liked on date (there was no disguising it as hanging out or team bonding—he said date)
• treat the girl he liked perfectly
• took her out for her favorite food
• told her she was wonderful and beautiful
• bought her flowers
• took her sightseeing

Mako,what he did wrong:

• kiss Korra back (in 99% of relationships, that is cheating)
• assuming Korra was trying to make him jealous (he should’ve talked to his bro about everything first, or both at the same time)

Korra,what she did wrong:

• go out with Bolin on a date when she had just confessed her feelings for Mako
• lead Bolin on—not just dinner but a whole freaking night out
• kiss Mako when he tells her his feelings are complicated (When did we last see that? Oh, yeah Ember Island Players and Aang was a total douche for doing that. It’s not any better when Korra does it)
• Accuse Mako of being a liar because his feelings are “complicated”

Bolin,what he did wrong:

• Absolutely freaking nothing.
